He is not just one of the best trumpet players of the contemporary American jazz scene \u2013 in 2014 he won the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz competition \u2013 but also one of the greatest composers \/ leading figures of African-American music in all of its variety. He brings together gospel and soul music just creatively as he does with hip-hop and electronic music, whereas he has formed his personal sound out of the Clifford Brown, Freddie Hubbard and Woody Shaw post-bop tradition. As far as his personal discography goes, from New Gospel Revisited till his latest release Soul Sign, the result is always full of surprises.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n
