In relation to jazz he has partnered with musicians such as the trumpeter Lew Soloff, the saxophonist Bob Mintzer, the guitarist Philip Catherine etc. whereas he has also been a member of many significant jazz groups such as the Maynard Ferguson\u2019s Big Bop Nouveau and the Duke Ellington Orchestra.  Ernie Hammes is one of the most important figures in the jazz scene of his country.
