His creations are characterized by a beautiful melodic feel combined with a modern sound and rhythmic approach. Improvisation has an important place in his music \u2013 as does his methodology of mixing modern jazz with elements from other musical genres. In this respect, his music can be described as contemporary creative jazz or, more correctly, simply as contemporary music: deep, intense and full of colour. The Marzio Scholten Quartet formed in 2003 and is the guitarist's longest-running band.
