Formed in 2023, this contemporary jazz trio from Bucharest, Romania, has already released three albums and is considered one of the most distinctive voices on the Eastern European jazz scene. Listen closely to their 2024 LPTimelines and you immediately get the hype. The album is a reflection on memory, history and transformation that incorporates folk motifs from eight former communist countries, reinterpreted to fit the context of modern European jazz. Driven by artistic curiosity and respect to cultural diversity, Amphitrio have shaped their creative language through years of experimenting with different genres, from classical and orchestral music to experimental jazz, world music and electronic fusion, inviting the audience on an exploration of different narratives on what freedom might sound like.
