With his charismatic quartet, he proposes a new aesthetic approach to Morricone’s work that rejects the stale replication of the tribute band to attempt meaningful new arrangements and improvisations that open a revelatory window into the musical universe of the beloved composer. In other words, this is not a cheap nostalgic trip down memory lane. When the Stavros Lantsias Quartet and their Morricone project take the stage of Athens Jazz to play emblematic melodies from Cinema Paradiso and Once Upon a Time in the West, they will present the audience with a fresh perspective on the mythical legacy of the renowned Italian composer, a bold reinterpretation of music so familiar that it has burrowed itself deep into our subconscious.
