Yorgos Krommydas Modern Jazz Quintet

Yorgos Krommydas Modern Jazz Quintet, (Greece)

The talented guitarist Giorgos Krommidas presents his second personal album entitled "Aggressive Thoughts" where he leaves behind the classic sound of the organ trio and the music he presented in 2010 on his first album entitled "Jazzium". With his new formation, the Modern Jazz Quintet, and having behind him a wide range of musical influences, but respecting the tradition and sound of classic jazz guitarists (Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, Grant Green), he mixes sounds and musical ideas that flirt with modern jazz (Jonathan Kreisberg, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Tigran Hamasyan), rock, alternative and heavy metal creating a rare eclectic jazz style. Krommidas already has to his credit collaborations with great Greek musicians, (Giorgos Kontrafouris, Takis Paterelis, Dimitris Kalatzis, Evi Siamandas etc.), and here he has as collaborators the saxophonist Takis Paterelis, one of the most important Greek jazzmen, as well as new guys, graduates of the Ionian University like Yannis Papadopoulos (piano), Konstantinos Manos (double bass) and Evangelos Kotsambasais (drums). In addition to the new material, the group will also present a different approach to tracks from the guitarist's first record.
