ELLEN ANDREA WANG (Norway)

As a bassist, there are times when she sounds explosive, and as a singer, she almost always lets the emotion spill out. Ellen Andrea Wang has a strong presence in the local contemporary jazz (plus) scene, besides her international collaborations (Sting, Manu Katche, Marilyn Mazur) and her participation in the vocal group Gurls and her Pixel and Ellen Andrea Wang Trio. With the latter, she has released her most recent solo album, "Closeness" (2020), featuring her own compositions and cover versions of two songs: Ornette Coleman's "Lonely Woman" and Pat Metheny's "This Is Not America". Apparently, in Ellen Andrea Wang's jazz, art and expression have the leading role.
