2nd European Jazz Festival
The second European Jazz Festival in Athens, with the participation of 12 member countries of the European Union, was organized by Technopolis from May 30 - June 2, with the cooperation of the Embassy of Spain - the country that holds the presidency of the EU, the Cervantes Institute, as well as and the corresponding Embassies and Educational Institutes operating in Athens.
Program
On Thursday, May 30, the curtain of the Festival opened with the Greek participation of the three-member band of Giorgos Kontrafouris, followed by the "Sabina Hank Trio" of Austria. On Friday, May 31, the bands "Leana Sealy 5tet" from Luxembourg, "Fun Horns" from Germany, "CVB4" from the Netherlands and "Benoit Dalbecq Quartet" from France appeared. On Saturday, June 1, the lineup was the participation of the "Linda Svantesson Group" from Sweden, "New Candid All Stars" from Great Britain (in which the internationally renowned Greek artist Dimitris Vassilakis also took part), "Tuomo Dahlblom Trio feat Markku Rinta -Pollari" of Finland and "Alexi Tuomarila Quartet" of Belgium. On the last day of the Festival, Sunday June 2, the program included the performance of the "P.A.F Trio" from Italy, the "Trio Isaac Turienzo" from Spain, as well as the Big Band of the Municipality of Athens, under the direction of Thanasis Zervas and the special featuring Fred Hemke Jr. The evening would end with a Jam Session in which several artists participated.
