Omiros Miltiadous (drums), Michalis Messoin (bass), Ermis Michail (electric guitar), Thomas Lumley (tenor saxophone)
Ermis Michail is one of the most active and exciting artists on the Cypriot jazz scene. After studying at the Rotterdam Conservatory and working with Gilad Atzmon, Tony Lakatos, Alexia Vasileiou, Ed Verhoeff and Damian Erksin, Michail has launched into an exploration of jazz standards, but is also experimenting with modern electric sounds as a guitarist and arranger through his personal and collaborative projects. And like any curious explorer, he defies institutionalized conventions, aiming to highlight the expressive potential of the guitar in the jazz ensemble. On the Athens Jazz stage, he will focus on his original compositions with a classic jazz lineup of guitar, bass and drums, with the +1, the saxophone, enriching the sound and adding dimension. With its layered harmonic textures, fluid improvisations and deep rhythmic interaction, this alluring contemporary collaboration stays true to what really matters and rejects postmodern excess and empty pretense.
