Maria Faust’s Jazz Catastrophe (EE)
MARIA FAUST ‘S JAZZ CATASTROPHE | Εσθονία
Estonian saxophonist and composer Maria Faust is a multi-talented musician - but she is best known for her free jazz group curiously named Jazz Catastrophe. She started it in 2012 as a full big band, but along the way, it became smaller and evolved, now being in its third transformation, taking the form of a trio. In this way, the group approaches the essence and core of contemporary jazz. Maria Faust has had a long creative career in modern jazz, initially studying classical music in her home country. Still, she spread her wings, becoming more creative after settling in Denmark, where she has become a distinguished composer and improviser with her other groups, Sacrum Facere and Machina.
