Pianist Bernardo Sassetti is one of Portugal's best-known jazzmen. Having classical studies to his credit, he was finally won over by jazz as from a very early age he found himself playing with musicians such as Al Grey, John Stubblefield, Frank Lacy, Andy Sheppard and others. His reputation was subsequently established through international collaborations with artists such as Art Farmer, Kenny Wheeler, Freddie Hubbard, Paquito D'Rivera, Charles McPherson, Benny Golson, Curtis Fuller, Eddie Henderson, Steve Nelson... In the mid-90s was a member of trumpeter Guy Barker's group, appearing on the records "Into the Blue", "Timeswing", and "What Love Is". Also, Bernardo Sassetti collaborated with the composer Gabriel Yared in the film "The English Patient" - and after that, he worked and continues to work in the cinema. His most recent recording is a duet with pianist Mário Laginha.
