Big Band Athens

The repertoire presented by the BigBand of the Municipality of Athens consists of historical compositions and orchestrations by the pioneering creators of BigBand philology, also works of modern quality jazz and often, compositions by Greek composers. The BigBand of the Municipality of Athens has performed in all the major music and arts halls and festivals in Athens, Thessaloniki, but also in the Greek region, among them the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, the Nafplion International Festival, the European Jazz Festival in "Technopolis", in International Wind Seminar in Kalavryta, the American College, the Hall of the Hellenic-American Union, the Athens Conservatory, the F. Nakas Conservatory, the Art Conservatory, etc. The musicians who make up the Big Band of the Municipality of Athens have been selected among the most capable Greek soloists, they are distinguished by their high skill in jazz improvisation, the flexibility to interpret with stylistic precision not only the different currents of jazz but also classical and contemporary music, given that most of them have a classical musical education.
