Christof Lauer & Jens Thomas

Christof Lauer, tenor and soprano sax, and pianist Jens Thomas have been performing together since January 1999. They already met and collaborated in productions of the BigBand the NDR in Hamburg. Their first concert in Frankfurt, which was recorded by the Hessian Radio and was enthusiastically received by the audience, was also the trigger for the close collaboration that followed. Their program is determined mainly by their own compositions: a European, personal music, based on the foundations of Jazz. A dialogue, in which improvisation, the music of the moment, takes center stage. Lauer and Thomas develop their own, entirely personal way of communicating where the element of musical noises, drama and raucous coexists with the beauty and melancholy of simple melodies.
