Jazz for kids

This year, Athens Jazz is offering a fantastic lineup of activities tailored specifically for children aged 3-11. From engaging art workshops to an energetic dance workshop, a captivating music-theatre performance, and an original musical treasure hunt at the Industrial Gas Museum's premises at Technopolis, there's something for every young creative mind. The activities are designed to inspire children to express themselves through art, with jazz serving as the main muse. See the detailed program below:

  • In the factory’s yard | for families with children 3-8 years old

The IGM's beloved art workshop returns to the factory's yard with a jazz-inspired theme! We'll delve into the sounds of a factory and ponder the possibility of machines creating music. Taking inspiration from the diverse sounds found in an old factory, we'll select unique materials, blend them, and craft our own distinctive "industrial sound!"

Meeting point: outside the INNOVATHENS BUILDING INNOVATHENS

Event Hours: 11:00-14:00 / Free Admission. Prior booking is required at more.com

  • And all that jazz | for families with children 3-7 years old

Get ready to dance, children and grownups! This family workshop focuses on creative movement and dance, allowing participants to experience jazz rhythms. Attendees will explore the characteristics of each musical instrument using their bodies and imagination and discover the movements associated with each. The workshop will also incorporate improvisation, a key jazz element, allowing participants to improvise like jazz musicians using their bodies as instruments. Finally, everyone will come together to create their own jazz-moving orchestra!

Σημείο: Skywalk

Event Hours: 12:00-13:00 | Free Admission. Prior booking is required at more.com

  • Zamominia Jazz | for families with children 3-8 years old

Where does jazz originate from? What instruments are typically part of a jazz band? What is musical improvisation? These questions and many others will be answered in an interactive jazz concert by Zamominia! Their songs are reinterpreted as jazz performances, allowing children to experience this beloved and unique musical genre. They will learn about musical instruments, gain an understanding of their roles within the group, participate in rhythmic and melodic games, and engage in improvisation!
