Gorka Benitez Trio (Spain)

Gorka Benítez is one of the most important jazz saxophonists in Spain. Born in Bilbao, he made his career in Barcelona, where he appears with the other two members of his band: drummer David Xirgu and double bassist Raimon Ferrer, experienced musicians who have played with John Abervrombie, Vince Mendoza, Victor de Diego and Chris Cheek. Gorka Benítez's last two records, “Fabou” and “Gorka Benítez Trio”, have been warmly received by critics as a new contribution to Spanish jazz. At the International Festival of Vitoria, moreover, the presentation of his latest work was crowned with great success.
