Gramski’ Beat

A very good contemporary jazz group from Denmark, Gramski' Beat has created a personal sound that is not only limited to jazz but also embraces sounds and rhythms from the rock world - again without being locked into formalities. The creation of drummer Jeppe Gram, the group "builds" its music on attractive melodic and rhythmic bases, giving a beautiful narrative effect, with a strong improvisational mood. All its members are experienced musicians: Gram himself has been playing since the age of 13, saxophonist Ned Ferm began his professional career in the orchestra of the creative American trombonist Roswell Rudd, trombonist Mads Hyhne has collaborated (among others) with the American bassist Steve Swallow, while bassist Nicolai Munch-Hansen has toured and played with American saxophonist George Garzone. But all this sounds a bit typical for a group that has succeeded in having its own musical identity...
