Kvalda Quartet

Completely within the standards of an atmospheric, dreamy and melodic Scandinavian jazz with new age extensions, the group Kvalda is a new musical group that has already distinguished itself in a musical landscape where creative music has a long tradition and history. The group Kvalda combines sounds and colors that outline a journey into a dream – having as its main weapon idiosyncratic jazz composition and improvisation, centered on the charming vocals of Aili Ikonen. The group possesses the freshness and expressive simplicity of its members – who are excellent musicians, with serious studies and experience – while standing out for its ability to present complete musical performances (as seen by its album “Kvalda”). Within two years, the group has become a standout, performing numerous concerts – and receiving an award at last year's Young Nordic Jazz Comets competition.
