Léon Phal

Léon Phal (France)

Léon Phal (saxophone), Zacharie Ksyk (trumpet), Arthur Alard (drums), Rémi Bouyssière (bass), Andrew Audiger (piano)

Having an academic musical background from the famous Haute École de Musique in Geneva, Léon Phal has quickly evolved into an essential personality of the new French jazz scene. The album Stress Killer, released last year, is the ideal combination of timeless jazz heritage and contemporary urban music culture, exuding an air of night wandering with sensual moods. What is striking is that while electronic elements are pervasive in the quintet's sound, in reality, the result emerges in a completely analogue way through the patents of talented musicians, ultimately creating an electrifying atmosphere that is easy to find in electronic clubs. Sexy, groovy and freed from easy labels, the sound ofLéon Phal and his team expresses the spirit of a new generation of musicians eager to bring jazz to the here and now, gazing at the same time towards a promising future.
