With the essence of the always serious pun, the name of this group, based in Strasbourg, Alsace, means on the one hand the oriental musical "road" (way) hijajcar and on the other hand a Hijaz Car(avan) - a caravan of Hijaz (or Hejazi), the region that "connects" Persia, Arabia and the Mediterranean. Culturally at least, this is expressed by the "fusion" of traditional Eastern music and European jazz in an energetic, full of colors, melodies and rhythms way. This is also the main source of inspiration for this multi-kulti French format that has been in practice since the late 90s. Acoustic instruments (of Eastern and Western origin) that preserve the warmth and sweetness of music and freely follow the paths that have been paved over the centuries by peoples – and corresponding musics – always staying close to the spirit, feeling and culture from which they came. Jazz and traditional music become one, become energy and atmospheres that appeal to the heart.
