«Makiato»

The Makiatos come from the north of Slovenia. In July 2006 they celebrated their tenth anniversary in the alternative ethnic—jazz-fusion music scene. During their very successful career they have recorded two albums: "ON TIME" (2002 - nominated for the "Boomerang 2003" award) and "RETRO FUTURE" (2005). Their music is hard to pin down, as the band members come from different backgrounds and with different influences, each one, which is noticeable in their work. Despite the fact that most critics classify them in the category of Jazz, they prefer the term "improvisational music" because they have introduced into their music elements from ethnic, electronic, nu-jazz, fusion and finally Scandinavian Jazz. 2007 was definitely their year, as they had the opportunity to appear at the most important Festivals and clubs in Europe and to boost their creative activity by improvising live. For this reason their program contains new, modern sounds which will be included in their new album which will be released shortly before their participation in the 8th European Jazz Festival in Athens.
