New Fossils have emerged as a rising force in Budapest’s alternative jazz scene, mixing youthful energy with a borderline telepathic interplay between its members. Their multifaceted sound is a creative collision of talents from different musical worlds, with every member bringing their ingredients to the band’s sonic melting pot. From collaborating with last year’s Athens Jazz guest Mathias Eick to winning the 2023 award for Best Alternative Album of the Year in Hungary, New Fossils have gone from strength to strength, testing the boundaries of jazz along the way. The founding of their own label, Morotva Records, testifies to the band’s DIY philosophy and proves that their music dives deep but aims high. New Fossils have arrived to make their mark on the international jazz scene.
