Pedro Moreira is one of Portugal's outstanding jazzmen. His activities span the entire spectrum of musical performance: performance, composition, orchestration, conducting and teaching. In addition to playing with his own groups, he participates in orchestras and projects of other musicians, and composes a wide range for small groups, large orchestras and chamber music. He was born in Lisbon in 1969 and started learning music from the age of 12. Already in the mid-80s he had his own jazz group, where he played the saxophone, with which he appeared at all the important festivals of his country and later in Europe, America, Africa, etc. As music director of the big orchestra of the Hot Club of Portugal until 1991, Pedro Moreira had the opportunity on the one hand to present his music very often and on the other hand to record an album with important American jazzmen such as Benny Golson, Eddie Henderson and Curtis Fuller. Since 1996, he has been living in New York, where he continues to compose and play the saxophone uninterruptedly while pursuing advanced studies in contemporary music. He has collaborated with Herbie Hancock on the great album "Gershwin's World", as well as with Wayne Shorter on the album "Alegria". Among his other collaborations, those with Dave Liebman, Joe Chambers, Bobby Short and others stand out.
