Phønix

The Norwegian trio Phønix love to deconstruct jazz tradition only to rebuild it with explosive riffs, heavy grooves and bursts of pure psychedelia. Take elements of krautrock, prog, avant-garde and pop, add a dash of improvisation and you get a sonic cocktail equal parts futuristic and retro. Led by guitarist Emil Storløkken Åse, the trio has lit up the Norwegian jazz scene since 2021, performing their electric litanies to rapturous response. 2025 finds them in top form and on the road, touring their ambitious and widely acclaimed 2024 concept album Intergalloptic Roundtrip. Always happy to push the envelope, Phønix are ready to stun the Athens Jazz audience with a bold, unpredictable set.
