Leader of an already creative trio, Samuli Mikkonen found an ideal partner in the person of Sonny Heinilä, who is now one of the "3 spirits" of the quartet. One of the most interesting groups in contemporary European jazz, the quartet has managed to create an ethereal, soulful sound, which flows effortlessly, as if encountering no obstacles in its path. With reference to the sound of the great composers of the 20th century, but also to the aesthetics of Andrei Tarkovsky, the quartet possesses an exemplary sense of economy in improvisation, in which it incorporates elements from Arabic music, but also from the tradition of Finland and Hungary ( where the musicians are from).
