Shai Maestro feat. Petros Klampanis

Shai Maestro feat. Petros Klampanis, (Israel)

Pianist Shai Maestro was born in 1987 and started playing at the age of five while at the age of eight he heard his first jazz from a record where Oscar Peterson played George Gershwin. Thus his musical studies – both classical and jazz – became part of his wider college and university studies. He continued, of course, in the US, at Berklee, but the breadth of his interests pushed them even to the study of Indian music. So today Shai Maestro lives in New York where he has the opportunity to play with the best jazzmen while since 2006 he has been a permanent member of bassist Avishai Cohen's group with whom he toured extensively in Europe and participated in the recordings of the "Gently Disturbed" records. (2008), "Sensitive Hours" (2008), "Aurora" (2009) and "Seven Seas" (2011). Since 2011, however, Shai has left Cohen's group to form his own and develop his own music as a composer and arranger. Thus, Shai Maestro's trio is completed by Israeli drummer Ziv Ravitz and Peruvian bassist Jorge Roeder. The group's first album, with the simple title "Shai Maestro Trio", was released by the French label Laborie and has already stood out in the French jazz charts.
