The music produced by Kostis Christodoulou's band draws from the traditions of swing and blues, as well as modal sounds that create a meditative soundscape. This timeless, multicultural, musical quest that we hear in "The Year Of The Thing” (2020) is not governed by any elitism or ancestor worship but is infused by the sense of the classic, as a delightful tribute to various outstanding jazz records of the 1965-1975 period. The compositions are slow-burning and always bear the element of urgency as if everything is hanging by a thread – which takes off the sound experience of this exquisite, indigenous band.
