One of Poland's promising new jazz groups, with very good reviews, is the Tubis Trio. Their music is clearly influenced by Scandinavian jazz - but these two "schools", Polish and Scandinavian, have many common points and elements anyway. The musicians that make up the group are masters as composers, instrumentalists and improvisers...
Since 2008 the Tubis Trio consists of pianist Maciej Tubis, bassist Marcin Lamch and drummer Przemek Pacan. They play exclusively their own music composed by Maciej Tubis or make modern arrangements and improvisations on well-known jazz pieces so that they remain open to their musical horizons... Their most recent album, "Live in Luxemburg", was characterized by the British magazine Jazzwise as a of the best of 2009. Tubis Trio's music brings together classical and European jazz - and it's nimble and enjoyable music, full of interesting points as it builds on the heritage of the jazz tradition.
