The UMA group is the joint expressive vehicle and axis of two creative musicians with experience in contemporary jazz, Aleksei Saks and Robert Jürjendal. It was formed in 2007 as an "unorthodox" combination of instruments such as guitar, trumpet and the rarely used (in jazz) French horn. From UMA we hear original compositions by its two members, enriched with acoustic atmospheres and improvisations derived from mixes of trumpet, horn, sound effects, loops, electric guitar, midi sounds, etc. The group's first CD was released in 2008 and is entitled "Civitas Soli". Since 2008, UMA has been collaborating with Swiss percussionist Andi Pupato – and as a result of this collaboration they are releasing a new CD, entitled 'Hymn to Undiscovered Land'.
