«Wlodek Pawlik Trio»

«Wlodek Pawlik Trio» (Poland)

Pianist Wlodek Pawlik is one of the most active musicians on the contemporary Polish jazz scene. From the late 1970s and early 1980s, when he was studying at the Music Academy in Warsaw and later at the Hochschule fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Hamburg, his interest was focused on jazz, with his world open to other musical directions as well ( which is common for the Polish music scene).

Appearances and awards came one after the other and international collaborations were a characteristic part of his activity (constantly with American musicians such as Billy Hart or Randy Brecker, from the early 90s to the present day). His personal discography includes about 15 albums, while he collaborates with the American band Western Jazz Quartet, playing in many countries of the world. He composes symphonic music and chamber works, music for cinema, jazz, writes songs etc. He often records for radio and television and participates in the most important jazz festivals collaborating with famous musicians such as Richie Cole, Herb Geller, Scott Hamilton, Tom Knific, Billy Hart et al. His trio has been one of his main means of expression and "vehicles" for many years. With this he has recorded three albums (through them he has taken the nickname "Horowitz of jazz"!), as well as four solo albums, (the most recent one is called "Anhelli" and is inspired by a romantic poem by Juliusz Slowacki...)
