Fusing elements of Nordic Jazz and Son Cubano with the taqsims of Balkan wind instruments, the trio led by pianist and composer Yiorgos Bereris delivers a musical blend that drips with vitality and spontaneity but still leaves room for moments of introspection. Based out of Rotterdam, this collaborative artistic project crafts dynamic soundscapes where contemporary jazz meets tradition and world music influences. Inspired by his participation in the revival of Kyriakos Sfetsas’ Greek Fusion Orchestra (2018-2020) and his collaborations with musicians from all over the world, Bereris has developed his own unique artistic identity that draws on the musical vocabulary of Arab and Azerbaijani pianists. The Athens Jazz audience will have the joy of discovering this emerging talent of the local and international jazz scene and listen live to music from his first two albums, Laros (2023) and Siga Y Silente .
