Yuri Honing is one of the most important saxophonists in the Netherlands, with many awards, extensive experience, extensive tours and a numerous discography. Just the fact that he works with musicians like Charlie Haden and Paul Bley shows his extraordinary artistic level. In addition to his special - and long-standing - engagement with acoustic jazz, Yuri Honing also has the electric form Wired Paradise, formed in 2002, with music that comes effortlessly from any jazz and rock background while also having the character of a fantastic soundtrack. Most of the compositions have as a starting point and inspiration movies such as “Kill Bill”, “Usual Suspects”, “L.A. Confidential” etc. while, beyond jazz, we can hear references to the music of Bjork, Iggy Pop, Radiohead, etc. According to Wired Paradise, what counts is not style and style but communication through music. Thus, Honing fearlessly uses jazz, rock, dance, electronica, wanting to reinforce his opinion that jazz is not a style but an artistic language. Honing has toured in more than 70 countries and in January 2012 he was awarded the Boy Edgar Award, the most important Dutch award for a jazz artist.
