The Club program with live shows & DJ sets, an International Conference, two photography exhibitions, The Meet Market & open-air screenings will accompany this year's Athens Jazz!

Athens Jazz is back for a whole week, from May 23 to 29, at the Athens Technopolis and all around the city with Women in Jazz. The city's longest-running musical institution is changing, evolving, and, along with the 21 live shows of the main line-up, it goes beyond the boundaries of Technopolis, opening up to the city, enriched with new events, creating a total festival experience that we have missed so much...

A few days before its official opening, from May 20 to 22, Athens Jazz will host τthree days of open-air screenings at Parko Eleftherias in collaboration with the IN-EDIT Greece. Three music documentaries "narrate" the heart-wrenching stories of three women who left their indelible mark on music history, Billie Holiday, Patti Smith and Lila, a member of Slave to Sirens, the first all-female thrash metal band in the Middle East.

From May 23 and throughout the festival, the main side events of Athens Jazz, the photography exhibition of the METApolis photographic team, entitled #13 m.e.t.a.p.o.l.i.s, and the nomadic market of Meet Market will accompany the festival per se. Furthermore, during the same period, at the New Retorts, three photographers passionate about music and performing arts, Thrassos Irinis, Spyros Vangelakis and Costas Broumas, will present the women-related part of their work in a photography exhibition under the title Women in Jazz.

And because you cannot organise a festival without a party, Gazarte Roof stage will welcome the festival's Club Program with unique live shows and DJ sets! On Thursday, May 26, we will enjoy Makiko Hirabayashi, the talented Copenhagen-based artist from Japan, with her trio, which features percussion master Marilyn Mazur, known for her participation in the Miles Davis Group. The evening will be rounded off with a DJ set by the Athenian audience's favourite Matina Sous Peau, who promises - as always - to rock the house! Finally, on Saturday, May 28, the Jazz Kosmos Party, organised in collaboration with Kosmos 93.6, promises unforgettable moments. The explosive performer Idra Kayne and the multi-talented DJ and producer MCD, a duo that counts dozens of joint performances in Greece, intend to lure us into their colourful soulful world with soul, R' n' B and hip-hop grooves from their personal recordings and favourite international hits, while afterwards, an equally explosive DJ set from the station's producers promises to soar our mood.

Athens Jazz, having as its primary goal this year to highlight the issue of female representation in music and jazz, in particular, and promote the music and the stories of women, organises on Friday, May 27, a workshop on Women in Jazz, at INNOVATHENS. Two panels of great female musicians from Greece and abroad and renowned music industry professionals will discuss gender balance in the music and jazz, in particular, share their experiences from the European and international scene, showcase their stories, inspire and prepare the audience for the final three days of live shows of Athens Jazz.

Last but not least, on the same day, the one and only Lucy Woodward (US), with collaborations like Snarky Puppy, Pink Martini, Rod Stewart and Barbra Streisand, will deliver a fun and inspiring vocal masterclass not to be missed on how to build your personal vocal toolkit for a dynamic on-stage performance.

From May 20 to 29, with Technopolis as main scene, jazz spreads across Athens! Are you ready to jazz?
