Veronica Mortensen

Veronica Mortensen (Denmark)

Born in Aarhus but raised in Athens, Veronica Mortensen followed an innate talent she had for music (as a child of musicians) and, returning to Denmark in her 20s, was determined to become a singer. She formed her own band, soul-oriented and with a repertoire of Aretha Franklin and Motown classics. Later, she turned to acid jazz but, completing her music studies, her repertoire expanded to jazz and rock classics. Her personal albums, such as 2003's 'Pieces in a Puzzle' or 2007's 'Happiness... Is Not Included', show a singer/songwriter with a strong artistic identity and personality. Veronica Mortensen has excellent original material as well as covers of songs by the Beatles, Tom Waits, James Taylor, Rickie Lee Jones, etc. Her latest album is titled 'I'm the Girl'.
